Terms & Conditions

1. Entries are confined to Mares 9 years Old & under registered in the Irish Horse Register with the breed codes ISH,RID or ID;

2. Horses must be sired by a stallion that is classified as Approved /Preliminary Approved/Supplementary Approved/Recognised/Preliminary Recognised in the Irish Sport Horse Studbook or a stallion that is classified as CLASS 1 in the Irish Draught Horse Studbook

3. Mares must have both sire & dam recorded on their passport;

4. The class is also open to the progeny of Weatherby’s Thoroughbred Stallions that are not classified in the Irish Horse Register

5. All mares must have a foal at foot by a recommended for breeding (approved) Stallion or preliminary recommended for breeding Stallion or class 1 (R.I.D.) Irish Draught Stallion or by a stallion that is registered in Weatherby’s Non Thoroughbred Register.

6. Each Mare & Foal will be judged as a Unit (Mare 40%;Foal 60%)

7. The Mare’s passport will be inspected before judging commences at both the qualifiers and the Final & the Foal’s I.D. Cert at the Final. Exhibitors failing to produce a Passport will be debarred from competing.

8. Two Mares & Foals may qualify if the judges & the I.S.A. agree that the standard is high enough.

9. All Foals must be led at both the qualifiers & the Final.

10. Mares & Foals qualified for Final are not eligible to enter any Classes at the show where the final is held other than a qualifying Class for other Finals.

1. Entries are confined to: Colt Foals eligible to be registered in the Irish Horse Register with the breed codes RID or ID; Foals must be sired by a stallion that is classified as CLASS 1 (ID C1) in the Irish Draught Horse Studbook;

2. The mare’s passport must be ready for inspection prior to entry to the Judging ring, “if the Foals passport is not to hand”. Failure to comply with this rule will lead to immediate disqualification.

3. Foals must be led at all times.

4. Passports & (Microchips if applicable) should be read by a Vet at the Final

5. One foal from selected shows may qualify for the final if the judges & the I.S.A. agree the standard is high enough

6. One of the judges at the qualifying show must be from the I D H Judges List.

Open to thoroughbred horses that have raced on either track, &/or p2p  – passport & racing details (this can be downloaded from either Racingpost.co.uk or irish racing.com) to be made available for inspection on the day of the show.
The judges will ride the horses in this class.  The horse will perform walk trot, a few strides of extension in the trot & canter on the correct leg, gallop & return to a halt maintained for 5 secs, with a few steps of rein back.
Conformation of the horse nor racing injuries are taken into account.
A score sheet is completed for each contestant by the judges & this will be available to the contestant after the class has concluded. Proper show turnout is essential.
This is a qualifier for the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Exracehorse of the year & two horses are eligible, the final to be held at Coilog Kildare
