With a total of 56 cattle classes on offer this year up from 52 in the 2017 show, the cattle sections will be a major attraction to all cattle breeders and exhibitors throughout the country and further afield.
The total cattle prize fund has also been increased from last year and amounts to a massive €46,990 which will be given out on the day. Of the total prizemoney, €23,500 will be awarded in the Irish Angus sections of the show.

Five additional cattle classes are at this year’s show. Along with the additional Irish Angus Bull calf class, the Simmental breed makes a comeback to this year’s show with four different classes for owners to compete in.
Other highlights will be €1,500 prize money in the Maid of Glanbia class, €1,500 in the pure Friesian cow, €1,700 for any dairy breed and €1,800 in the beef bullock class.
A further new attraction at this year’s show will be the holding of the finals of the Kilkenny County Macra-na-Feirme stock judging competitions in both the cattle and sheep sections.
