One of the lesser known sections in the Iverk Show are the sheep classes.  One of the main reasons is that relatively speaking sheep are not the most important agricultural enterprises in County Kilkenny. Only around 2% of the Irish sheep population are to be found in the County.

Nevertheless, we have 11 different classes at the show which are very well supported each year.

Sponsored by Glanbia in Kilmanagh, Fitzgerald Fleming Long Accounts and BVP Veterinary Products we have classes for Texels and Charollais ram and ewe lambs and shearling ewes. There is a class for rams of any breed

The Texel championship is always keenly contested.

There is a class for pair of butcher lambs and a class for a pair of factory lambs. You will have to come along and see what is the difference.

As in all sections of the show there is a class for young people. Class 11 states ‘best primary school lamb minder’.

You will find all the details on our website www.iverkshow.ie.
