Following its spectacular success last year, the Iverk Food Market promises to be another very interesting and ‘tasty’ place to visit at this year’s show on the 25th August.
Organiser John Flynn is very excited about the plans and will wish everyone who visits a Cead Mile Failte in the Glanbia sponsored artisan food village.
Last year we had the final of the adult All Ireland Home Cook championship. This year we have the final of the Junior Championship. It is always a privilege to see and encourage young people take part in competitions.
The aim of the competition is ‘creativity with Irish ingredients’. With a prize fund of €4,000 it is sponsored by FloGas and NordMende. The ingredients to be used will be revealed to the competitors ten days before the final. Competitors may not use any other ingredients but need not use all that are listed. The ingredients to be used will be supplied for the final. Competitors must supply their own equipment. See www.homecookchampion.com for full details.
The final will be run alongside a cooking demonstration by TV3 and RTE’s chef Adrian.
We also have the privilege of having Ann Neary from The Ryeland House Cookery School, Cuffsgrange, Kilkenny promoting the exhibitors.
Among our talented Artisan exhibitors this year we have cheese producers, confectioners, local spelt and wheat flour producers, local produce, coffee blenders, cider brewers, liqueurs and probiotics.
A wide variety of foods will also be available for you to try. There will be Vietnamese, Portuguese, Mediterranean, Indian and vegetarian options to name but a few…
So at the Iverk Show this year John tells me you won’t be hungry. He advises you just have a light breakfast before you come ensuring you can really enjoy what is on offer.
