Horses and Ponies
Show horses and ponies and show jumping have always featured prominently at the Iverk Show. And 2022 is no different.
In show jumping there are four arenas hosting 22 events. They range from the Nissan 1.35m Championship to Tiny Tots and local newcomers.
Arena 1 has four events for horses, Arena 2 has six events for 128 to 148 cm ponies jumping 90 cm plus, Arena 3 has the Sportsman events and Arena 4 is for ponies jumping 90 cm and under. The first competition in all Arenas start at 9am.
Competitors, please note all horses and ponies must be accompanied by their passports. All entries must be made through the SJI.
In the Show Horses and Ponies, we have seven Rings hosting 41 classes. The highlight is the Knight Frank and Morris Oil sponsored All Ireland Broodmare and Foal Team Championship. The mare and foal are judged as a unit with 60% for the mare and 40% for the foal. Finalist must qualify at other shows and are competing for a first prize of €1,000.
Ring Two has the young horse classes (one-, two- and three-year-olds) competing for the John Kenny Perpetual Trophy.
The ridden hunter classes take place in Ring Three. The novice and open Racehorse to Riding Horse with new sponsor TREO EILE are also in this ring.
The working hunters, horses are in Ring Four with fence maximum height of 1m and maximum spread of 1.10m. The working hunter classes for ponies are in Ring Seven.
Pony breeding classes and lead rein take place in Ring Five with pony riding classes in Ring Six with €100 for the ring champion.
The fabulously styled Ladies Side-Saddle classes will be held in Ring Seven after the ponies with a scheduled start at 2.30 pm.
