This day next week in its 196th year the Iverk Show will be buzzing and in full swing.

And at this point in time all the indications are that we will have record entries. In all the various sections from cattle, horses, poultry, sheep, arts, crafts, vintage machinery, fruit, vegetables, flowers, baking, eggs and honey the busiest people will be the judges.

We wish all the exhibitors the very best. We know of course there can be only one winner in each class. Because the standard of exhibits is so high that in many there is very little between the winner and the second or third place. With the high standard the judges have a very difficult job. On another day the results might be different.

As a spectator or future exhibitor this is where you learn. Ask the question “why did the judge/s make that decision; why did that one get the red rosette”?

So, a huge thank you to everyone who has entered. Big or small, one or more you all play your part in in keeping the oldest show in Ireland one of the leading shows.

You can see from the attached photographs that after 70 plus years the Show continues to make the front pages. The credit for that must go to the successive committees down through the years.

The current committee is no different. Their enthusiasm, dedication, comradery and sheer enjoyment has stood the test of time.
